It's a spectrum that has at one end women who do not work outside the home doing most or all of the housework. The other far end of the spectrum is women who earn all of the money in the household doing nearly all of the housework. The two poles are essentially the same as far as women and household chores, but in the middle of the spectrum it is more balanced and shared between both partners. For example, if both work outside the home and earn around the same, they are much more likely to share in chores although in general women still are expected to do more than men as far as eldercare, childcare, and home care, no matter what.
Does that make more sense now?
