It's absurd how many men have told me about how they are teaching their daughters about guns and about self-defense as if that is somehow going to be a sure-fire way they are never harmed by a man. Strangers aren't the only danger women face. A lot of it comes from inside the home from her own partner and/or family. Is she supposed to carry a gun to the dinner table in case her husband goes off because the food is too salty? 🙄

As you've noted, the solution is to shift the culture of how masculinity is constructed and to hold boys and men accountable when they behave in anti-social ways - preferably done by other men. Guys who refuse to entertain that are being a part of the problem by perpetuating a harmful culture.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
