It's called The Macho Paradox. He explains that in traditional Latino cultures macho had many good connotations, such as integrity and valor and being well respected. The anglicized version tends to invoke swagger and being willing to solve your problems with your fists. But somewhat ironically, those traits are actually manifestations of insecurity and such.

His POV is very much what mine is - that we must unhook domination from masculinity and get men to stop turning a blind eye to this sort of violence against women. Also, we need to get more men actively involved in talking about this stuff and stop treating it like it's a "women's issue" because it's really a men's issue at heart.

Very good so far. I recommend it if this topic interests you.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
