It's definitely a weird dichotomy that in the US sexual fidelity is expected and breaking it is considered about the worst thing you can do to a partner, and at the same time, up to 40% of people are cheating on or have cheated on their spouse. It's patriarchal norms meeting normal human behavior, and for the most part, we culturally keep choosing the norms.
