It's demonstratbly very much a white male heteropatriarchy, but at the same time, that system does still harm nearly all men by keeping them boxed into a tight defenition of acceptable masculinity and fostering a social system that is built on bullying and constant comparison to everyone around you in order to joust for status.

I didn't say that one can't have an opinion about an experience they haven't had, but I do draw the line at telling others how they should feel about experiences that they've never had and never will have. You also need to actually have educated yourself about the topic. Most of the men I see putting forth "it's just my opinion" have no clue what they are talking about and are simply looking to downplay or erase the lived experiences of others so that they can go back to feeling comfortable with the status quo.

This guy pretty much nails it here:

I agree with you that taking steps to overcome victimization is important. I see speaking up about the harm that's been done to you (so that potentially it's recognized as harmful) as one of those things.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
