It's not a song about racism or even about history and demanding that she make it one up to your specifications is pretty absurd. She's simply noting that she would like to live in what she perceives as a more genteel time (rather than the hated here) - but making it clear there are aspects of that she doesn't embrace. Belaboring that point when it isn't what the song is about would not only be widely viewed as bizarre but disingenuous.
