It's not an attack to point out that imagining yourself as an individual separate from the culture comes from a place of white male privilege. Women do not have that luxury and people of color really, really don't have it - because they are treated badly for no other reason than their gender or race.

I'd love it everyone could be treated as an individual, but until discrimination and abuse by demographic ceases, it's incredibly naive and actually quite offensive to talk about that.
