It's one of those things that makes sense theoretically but that has never been actually put into practice. Pre-patriarchal cultures were egalitarian and used taking care of the entire group as their main survival strategy. And then with patriarchy, women were certainly not prioritized. One can say, "but this makes sense" and still have it never have been an actual thing.
