I've been reading Invisible Women by C. C. Perez and there are literally thousands of subtle ways that women are still marginalized and sometimes just not considered at all - when planning cities, when designing equipment, when studying problems, etc. It's so subtle and has been that way for so long, that it's off most people's radar - including people like me who study this stuff. We need to make it all more conscious - for all our sakes, because a lot of this same stuff also harms men, although often in slightly different ways.

As you've noted, what's in our subconscious minds influences all of us to a huge degree, and we can't impact problems that we aren't even aware of. All of this needs to keep coming more and more out into the conscious world so that we can work on together for a better society for everybody.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
