I've been thinking a lot about why this is. Some of it is that they really just can't imagine a life experience that is vastly different than the one they have. But some of it is also an androcentric culture that teaches them that the world (and the women in it) are there for them. Women should be focused on their needs, and not their own problems, which subconscously lands as a breach of the tacit social contract.
Same with Whites who really just can't grasp how different an experience a Black person has in daily life than they do. "I don't want to hear about your problems" is just one of the perks of being the top of the dominance hierarchy. It's still maddening as fuck though!
