I’ve got a draft started asking the question “how much slack do you give an aggressor or someone who is hurting you even when you understand why they are lashing out?” My personal philosophy is “not all that much.” You don’t get to work your bullshit out on me with impunity. It’s the kick-the-dog syndrome. Just because someone yelled at you doesn’t mean you get to go home and kick your dog, even though that’s what the hierarchy allows for. One of the rules is, you take abuse from those above you, but that means you can dole it out to those below you. It’s a dysfunctional system and I think a lot of people are fed up with it. I know I am. As someone who was the target of constant bullying from age 10–22 because I was a tall girl, I feel sympathy for the bully, but also no room to excuse that behavior, whether it shows up as racism, misogyny, homophobia, or just plain being a jerk to others. Work your shit out, deal with your insecurities and wounds and don’t try to work it out on me.

As always you does not refer to you Dave, but to one.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
