I've written three separate stories about why it's inappropriate and harmful to routinely refer to women as girls in places where we don't refer to men as boys. There's always pushback, even from women, because this dynamic of women as a type of child is so deeply entrenched that many people barely even notice it. You've done a great job of explaining how it came about and why. The capitalist angle is often left out, but that is an important part of the larger equation so I'm glad that you spoke to it.
