Love the dog analogy! I opened up an Elle Beau Facebook account that lasted just about a week. Because my profile picture is a naked statue and perhaps because I mentioned that I write erotica, I was soon inundated with personal messages, dick picks, and literally hundreds of friend requests a day from men. I would have closed the account sooner, but it was kind of fascinating in a WTF train-wreck kind of way.

I’ve also heard from many, many other women who write about sex how that often gets interpreted to mean that they are sexually available to any and all interested parties. I had one message once from a guy who had no profile picture, and told me nothing at all about himself — not even where he lived, but none-the-less he invited me to begin some kind of relationship with him because he’d read some of my erotica and decided that “we seem to have a lot of mutual interests.” 🙄
