Maybe there's no studies of mating behavior on this but there is plenty of expert sociological opinion by men who study masculinity that it is centered around men impressing other men. It's a fucking patriarchy FFS! Women are accessories, they are trophies. A lot of men don't even really think of women as actual people. If men actually cared what women think and want, there wouldn't be such an extremely high level of date rate (85% of rapes - with 1 in 3 women raped).

As the sociologist Michael Kimmel notes in his indispensable cultural history Manhood in America, men care a great deal about what other men think of them. In fact, he says, “In large part, it’s other men who are important to American men; [they] define their masculinity, not as much in relation to women, but in relation to one another. Masculinity is largely a homosocial enactment.”65

Katz, Jackson. The Macho Paradox (p. 156). Sourcebooks. Kindle Edition.

Stop asking for the oppressed class to fix the social dynamics for the dominant class. Men need to remake the social system, men need to change the dynamics of what it means to be a "real man" away from domination and control. And women need to support that and do their own inner work but expecting people who are very literally in many cases just trying to survive being under constant misgoynistic siege to do the bulk of the heavy lifting to change the culture is both unreasonable and unkind.

Men in the Femdom scene are not exactly a comparison of the larger patriarchal culture and the men within it. Fully half of American women who are murdered are killed by current or former domestic partners. The vast majority of domestic violence that involves control of the other person is perpetrated by men. Control of and in many cases, abuse of women, is a deeply ingrained part of mainstream masculinity and this naive idea that if women just went on some kind of a sex strike they could "stop the war" doesn't hold up to reality.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
