Maybe you are seeing different comments than I am, but I don't see women making a lot of off topic and ad hominem comments on men's stories. And, I personally experience ones everyday that essentially tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about even when what I’ve said has been meticulously documented and supported. I don't see women doing that to men.
As this article in Time magazine points out, there really is no comparing male and female harassment online.
"For girls and women, harassment is not just about “un-pleasantries.” It’s often about men asserting dominance, silencing, and frequently, scaring and punishing them."
