Men as a demographic have made laws and intentionally done things to keep women as second class citizens - repeatedly, over and over again from 5k years ago until today. I don't see anyone being held accountable for what happened before they were born, but I do see appropriate mention of the ways that men have purposely and intentionally maintained that sort of social stratification for their own benefit and kept those old norms alive. Today men still hold the bulk of political, economic, and social power and although we've made some progress, there's still a lot of resistance to seeing women as equals - in large part because patriarchy has envisioned men as the opposite of women, and truly accepting women as equals dismantles that paradigm.
