Men who can't control themselves when they don't get their way and who lean towards violence in the face of that is everybody's business because it's a huge societal problem - reflected in everything from domestic violence to mass shootings. I don't remotely believe that Kelce is on that level, but normalizing this sort of behavior sends the message that this is just how men are and what men do - which in turn does feed those problems on the larger scale.
We try to show them that it is personal for them too. For all of us. We talk about men not only as perpetrators but as victims. We try to show them that violence by men against one another—from simple assaults to gay bashing—is linked to the same structures and beliefs about gender and power that produce so much of men’s violence against women.
