Modern neuroscience says that brains are entirely plastic and that there is no such thing as a "gendered brain" other than very slight differences in size/weight. And actually, I didn't attribute this situation to the patriarchy (that was another writer, commenting that if this is the purpose of feminism, it needs all types of women to do it).
But since you brought it up, you ought to know by now because you've read me enough to feel confident making snarky comments about it, that the term patriarchy refers to the domination-based social system that we live in and not just a historical power imbalance between men and women. Within that system, those with more social power have long been accepted as being allowed to abuse those with less. Those with less have no recourse but to, in turn, abuse others with even less social power than they have. That's why it's a dominance hierarchy. Under this system, punching down has been considered "comedy." Fortunately, the tolerance for this is waning.
