Mona's "question" was largely rhetorical. It was a catchy headline. She made it clear that although she would have preferred to just be able to be straightforward, she knew that wasn't going to get her anywhere. Yes, I want to see a social system that is more equitable and egalitarian, but until patriarchy changes it's tune and more men support that taking place, women (and all marginalized people) are entirely justified in doing whatever they need to in order to get their needs met by a system that does not treat them fairly or as equals. Expecting women to disadvantage themselves in the hope that it will lead to greater equality is a pipe dream. Dominant social demographics always have the bulk of the onus on them to change the system before expecting groups they marginalize and take advantage of to do their part.

It's very, very well documented that it is highly unacceptable for women to be angry, and the more patriarchal the culture, the more that is the case. Demanding that women try to shift that by paying the price for their "unacceptable" anger is not a viable o acceptable solution.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
