Most women have experienced significant entitlement from men their entire lives - including the expectation that we do a lot of the emotional heavy lifting, so I think that's where that response is coming from. It certainly is where it was coming from from me. And because this kind of work is both vulnerable and hard, I don't see a lot of men jumping to take it on. As you mentioned to me in another comment, most people are somewhat lazy, but our society really needs the "real men " who are strong enough, and self-responsible enough to undertake this sort of difficult challenge.
