My friends are neither Mormons nor Nazis. Putting a Black hat on them won't help us understand why they made the choices that they did - which means that we have reduced capacity to impact future votes. The entire point of this piece is not to be gracious to deplorables. It's to understand why the vast majority of this nation made such a stupid choice so that we can hopefully head off something similar in the future.
