My son has a lot of sensory processing issues. His aren't the same as yours, but there are times that I'm in awe of him being able to go about at all in the world that constantly assaults his sense.

Because he's non-verbal and more obviously autistic, I think people treat him pretty well because they realize he has a disability. For those who can more easily "pass" I think the world is often not so kind.
