My understanding is that sperm competition increases (via increases sperm production and motility) when there is more than one man having sex with a woman that he knows about. So why would having multiple partners decrease fertility? It seems like it would be the opposite, given the increased sperm competition that takes place. But maybe there is some other factor I'm not aware of...
