Nice try, but masculinity in a patriarchy is an entirely distinct (and disempowering) sort of performance, vastly different than any other sort of social behavior (in birds, or anyone else). It's driving violence in the culture, and it's driving isolation, depression, substance, abuse and suicide in the men who subscribe to those norms. Men in egalitarian cultures aren't being similarly affected by the norms they socially perform. In addition, women just are — by virtue of birth. They don’t have to engage in a constant show to prove they are “real women” the way men in a patriarchy do.

“Thirteen years in the making, they draw on more than 40 years of research showing that traditional masculinity is psychologically harmful and that socializing boys to suppress their emotions causes damage that echoes both inwardly and outwardly.”

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
