No, it makes no logical sense whatsoever and the evidence of just how much this is sociologically constructed is all around us. After the 1970s women started going more and more into formerly "male-dominated" professions. Even though they continue to face hazing and harassment for doing so, women now make up 50% or more of all law school classes, medical school classes, and most other professional degrees. As soon as you take away the social constraints, women go after wanting to be astronauts, economists, mathematicians. engineers, and every other "male" profession you can name.

Long before women were ever viewed as competent scientist or inventors, and while they were largely shut out of these realms, women were still inventing the shit out of some of the most useful and important things ever to contribute to humankind.

Why on earth would men naturally be primary "resource providers" when in nearly all contemporary hunter-gatherer tribes it is actually the women/gatherers who provide the bulk of daily calories? Men have only been "primary providers" since plowed agriculture when they forced women indoors and banned them from that role. Something isn't natural if you legally prohibit other people for having the opportunity.

And while I'm happy to see you taken a more open-minded view of gender roles, it does rather seem to go against pretty much all that you've said in the past. The truth is, in egalitarian cultures, gender roles exist but aren't adhered to all that greatly. As long as people are contributing to the general welfare, no-one much cares who does what. And as I noted before, in some Native American cultures, men do the weaving and in others, women do the weaving. It depends on the culture - not some actual innate biological drive.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
