No, it’s a quote about real women’s experiences with trying to navigate their sexuality. Who else are you going to believe other than women about what their personal experiences are like?

Honestly it’s this sort of clueless dismissing sort of comment that garners you so many bad experiences with women on Medium. The fact that you don’t already know enough about how true it is that you question it is another problem. Literally every single woman has had to navigate that shit. 🙄 Frankly, it’s one of the main problems with our culture that men are so clueless about this shit that every woman knows inside out from personal experience.

And, I was the one who said it’s what women in a patriarchy face (as distinct from more partnership-oriented cultures) but that’s not what the writer is saying. It’s from a book about female sexuality, not a book about patriarchy.

And, it’s also not in dispute that we live in a patriarchy. Jordan Peterson says we do — he just thinks it’s a good idea because he pretends that this sort of dominance hierarchy is about merit (and not about traditional power maintained through coercion, violence, and prohibiting certain people from having access to opportunity to compete.)

To be honest, I’ve spent way too much time again today trying to educate somebody who doesn’t begin to know enough about any of this to even be able to engage in a meaningful conversation. You don’t understand what a patriarchy actually is or means (even though I’ve told you several times), you don’t know anything about women’s pervasive experiences in this culture, and are under the mistaken impression that men around the world are just naturally the way that most men in our culture behave due to how they’ve been socialized (which has nothing to do with inherent qualities). It’s too much to try to overcome and bring up to speed. I hope that at least one or two of your readers will at least get something out of it.

I highly recommend you stop offering opinions on these things for at least the next year or two until you familiarize yourself better with the topics at hand.
