No, it's not. Patriarchy is only about 5k years old. We had entirely different social systems for 97% of human history. Under patriarchy a woman is a woman but a man has to prove his masculinity every day, in relation to all the other men around him - he has to fight for his place in the pecking order. This is why gay or feminine men are made fun off - because one of the ways to establish masculinity is by not being feminine in any way (including not ever exhibiting any difficult emotions other than anger).

This sort of constantly shifting place and status, where you have to constantly compete and compare yourself to the other men around you breeds massive insecurity. It's rather ironic that in a patriarchy, men desire to control and own women, but then want their affirmation and acceptance at the same time. It's a stunted "mommy" paradigm, except you get to fuck this mommy figure. That's not the way matrillineal cultures operate, and it's not the way hunger-gathers relate to each other either. It's not innate to men - it's completely a function of the patriarchal dominance hierarchy. What a joke that you imagine that women ever transcend the male hierarchy. I mean give me a fucking break! Women at the highest levels of power still have to fight to be taken seriously and seen as worthy of holding those positions. Read more here about the authority gap and role incredulity and how rampantly that still takes place.

Hypergamy hasn't existed in any meaningful way since the 1980s so please don't start in on that and that too is a function of patriarchy, a relatively recent dynamic. In a Paleolithic tribe where gatherers provide about 60-80% of the daily calories, and where everyone takes care of each other as a primary survival strategy, this whole notion just completely makes no sense. Plus, setting yourself up as having status is actively discouraged in H/G tribes. They do things like insult the meat of good hunters so they won't get too big a head. It's not an inherent aspect of human behavior - it's patriarchy. And the more and more than women can provide for themselves, and make their own choices, the less they care about wealth or status in a man. We're seeing this happening all over the world, and it has been heading in this direction for the past 75 years. If you have no rights, no money, no power, and are only allowed one mate, of course, you want the best one you can get. Strip those restrictions away and the urge for that evaporates.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
