Nobody is asking you to rank which evil is worse. They are simply asking you to have compassion for anyone who has been traumatized or subject to something they shouldn't. Telling someone who is hurting "your life isn't so bad, other people have it much worse" is unkind and highly out of line. Compassion isn't relative; there's no hierarchy to it. If you have something you want to say about American policy, or the horrors you've seen, by all means, write up a story and publish it - but don't make dismissive comments on other people's stories. It's mean and uncalled for.
