Of course manliness and masculinity have some positive connotations, but they aren't dictated in the same way by patriarchal norms. For many guys, masculinity has nothing to do with honor or humility - because that's not tough, that's not being in control, that's not taking what you want. There's even a new(ish) term out now that disparages men who are too kind, who are thoughtful to and show caring to their female partner. It's called being a Simp, and for the men who buy into that terminology, it's considered incredibly unmanly to actual be what most sane people would consider a good person and a loving partner.

"And unfortunately, shaming men for doing nice things for their partners and showing up as an equal in a relationship can indeed add to the pressure for men to conform to ‘traditional’ stereotypes of aggression and dominance and reinforce the idea that women’s expectations in relationships are entirely unreasonable."

So no, honor and integrity and other traits that we associate with the best of men are not dominance hierarchy attributes of masculinity. In fact, they tend to work against the Might Makes Right ethos that is central to patriarchy. Late Stage Capitalism... hello!!

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
