OK, but what about the 20% of gendering non-conforming kids (a lot of them boys) who have tried to commit suicide because they don't fit in the fucking Man Box? What about all of the bullying and harassment that take place every day in order to force other boys to abide by "the rules" of it? And a guaranteed path to what? To keeping women as second class citizens who you have the right to control - because that's what men do.... ?

I'm sorry, but when you say that working hard and being a good person didn't work out for you, it makes it sound like you are wishing you'd been an asshole, and I have no sympathy at all for that. And I also don't think you really mean that either.

Women were pretty unhappy in the 1950s, but so were a lot of men. That's when Playboy magazine was founded, as an antidote to all the pressures and obligations of being a man at that time. Three years after it started, it was selling over a million issues a month. The 50s spawned the women's movement of the 60s and 70s. Choice and individuality are always, always better than a set of rules about who you are allowed to be.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
