OK, but you're presuming that all states are run completely by one party or another and that isn't the case. And aside from that, overwhelmingly, people of all stripes, including gun owners, want to see more sensible gun laws. They don't all want restrictions on what kinds of weapons or ammo are allowed, but they do want to see the other parts of gun law reform undertaken.
