OK, I think you are side-stepping. I haven't said anything about him that wasn't directly about his words in his OP for several comments, but whatever....

Of course people have different temperaments and comfort levels with confrontational engagement. I'm not advocating that you do so, but if you were to read most of my stories and comments you would find them quite measured, fact-based, willing to see another person's point of view, and open to learning and real exchange of ideas. What you would also see is that when someone attacks or tries to bully me I don't stand for it. When someone tries to hurt me or other people who I know are struggling or in pain, I don't stand for it. This is typically done in a fact-based way (such as pointing out where D was using misleading statistics) but depending on the tone of the other person, I may be sarcastic in turn, if they were sarcastic, etc. I don't attack people personally but will freely call out behavior that I find to be objectionable. If you find that to be problematic and uncivil, then we just have to agree to disagree. I think it's highly necessary to stand up to bullying of all sorts and vital to re-establishing more civil engagement because it discourages that sort of behavior. I deal with a lot less of it than I used to because people prone to that realize I am not an easy mark, and I also have a lot less of it than other women I know who write about similar topics and have a similar or larger following.

I'm a bit disappointed that you don't recognize or show any sympathy for how dismissive he was to the real distress that American women are feeling right now, but if I haven't elicited that in you by now, it's likely not going to be forthcoming. Your priorities are different than mine, and that is the way of the world, I guess.

I will say it one last time though - overwhelmingly on that comment (and on most of my comments) I get a lot of support and affirmation. You are the lone outlier who had an issue with it. I think that says a lot.
