One can certainly point to a lot of the progress that patriarchy has engendered but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's still a dominance-based hierarchy that is maintained (by intimidation and force) for the benefit of a relatively few elites. Stop being defensive about the gender aspect for a moment and you'll see all the ways that this sort of pyramid-shaped stratified social configuration is in fact at the root of pretty much all of our social ills, from racism to homophobia to garden variety bullying. By refusing to do that, and instead being distracted by the red herring the elites have waved in front of your nose, you are doing exactly what they want you to do and essentially proving the point of this essay.
