One of the corollaries of this is that men tend to misjudge a woman's interest in them - basing it more often on if they like what she's wearing or if they are attracted to her than what her cues are signaling. But when prompted to pay attention to her facial expressions and body language, they are quite capable of discerning much more often if she reciprocates his interest or not. Just as with empathy, the difference is all in the social demands and expectations - not some sort of brain "hardwiring" which can hardly exist in something as malleable and plastic as the human brain.
