Our world (in the US and most other developed countries) IS a series of competing hierarchies. Absolutely everything about our culture is centered around that and it is also the cause for all of our social ills. You deciding it isn't the case or that it isn't productive to view it that way is irrelevant. It's a demonstrable sociological model.
Likewise with hierarchies of actualization. You may not agree with that terminology but it doesn't change the fact that this too is an established model with known parameters.
American companies have been giving racial sensitivity training and sexual harassment training since the 1970s and we still haven't made much of a dent. Why? Because until you address the real issue, which is the ubiquitousness of dominance hierarchies in US businesses (and culture), you will never get people to behave differently. They will continue to act out their programming which requires constant vying for position in the hierarchy by "winning" in a zero-sum construct.
