Part of a patriarchal system is that we tend to not only believe the word of those with more social power over those with less but we are also supposed to focus our attention on those with more social power. Pedaphile priests are believed over altar boys who have been raped, even though they are both male because priests have more social clout as adults and as authority figures than children do.

Forcing men to grapple with just how pervasive sexual assault is for women disrupts this, even if it's mostly on a subconscious level. That doesn't excuse it though or the nasty comments either.
