Patriarchy is nothing but a brutal system of ratings and comparisons (a dominance based hierarchy) where social stratification is not only between men and women, but between races, social classes, wealth, education, religion, and garden variety school yard hierarchies. Perhaps if so many men weren't so desperately clinging to patriarchy, we'd have a chance at a more compassionate and caring society.
