People need to take responsibility for their own behavior, whether it’s conscious or unconscious and they need to call out other people who are not taking responsibility for themselves. Only a relatively small number of men are rapists and harassers, but nearly all women have had experience with sexual violence. Why? Because society tolerates it. As already discussed, we live in a rape culture. If it didn’t, we’d have a lot less.
I wrote these before I got to know you, but the atmosphere of most sex clubs/swinger’s clubs is very safe and welcoming for women. Part of the reason that is so is that the community doesn’t tolerate anything less. If our society stopped tolerating racism, and stratification of all kinds, it would diminish quite a bit.
