Public figures don't get a pass from being widely held accountable for the lives that they lived. Talking honestly about someone's hateful, divisive, self-aggrandizing life at the expense of the vulnerable is doing just that. As Anne Lamott says, "If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should have behaved better.”
