Refusing to acknowledge that pervasive masculine socialization includes domination, aggression, and control of women is somewhere between naive and intentionally turning a blind eye. Sociological dynamics don't mean every single man, but they sure point to an overwhelming dynamic that is incredibly problematic. Refusing to acknowledge that and work with it is contributing to and enabling the problem.

Men perpetrate 90% of all violence - against both women and other men.

1 in 3 women has experienced harm at the hands of a man (vs. a 1 in 2.1 million chance of being harmed by a bear)

85% of American women started getting sexually harassed when they were young children.

Nearly 40% of women who are murdered are killed by current or former domestic partners (vs. 6% of men - and at least some of those are in self-defense).

Guys who turn a blind eye to a culture that normalizes violence against women are just as culpable as the guys who actual raise a hand to a woman.

Everything that takes place in this culture is a function of what we allow and tolerate. In some places, rape doesn't exist because it's not tolerated. You being mad at women for being fed up at being victimized by male socialization is a HUGE part of the reason that we have the culture that we do - because you are putting your attention in the wrong place.

You are either a part of the problem or a part of the solution. Right now you are opting to be the former. Do better.

Men’s violence against women is a pervasive social phenomenon with deep roots in existing personal, social, and institutional arrangements. In order for people to understand and ultimately work together to prevent it, it is first necessary for them to engage in a great deal of personal and collective introspection. This introspection can be especially threatening to men, because as perpetrators and bystanders, they are responsible for the bulk of the problem.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
