Sad but true. From my perspective, patriarchy is a dominance based hierarchy. One of the central aspects of this is that those who are from demographics that 50 years ago were definitively "less" or lower on the pyramid of power are supposed to accept abuse from "above." It's part of knowing your place. When any historically marginalized demographic tries to shine a light on injustices they suffer, it feels wrong somehow to those who are "above" them because in their minds, their primacy (as well as their comfort and the centrality of their interests) is a given and anyone who doesn't play that is the one who is actually out of line. It's messed up - but it is how the hierarchy works.
