See, this kind of thinking is a part of the problem. Men literally forbade and prohibited women from participating in "their" sphere and women still invented a huge number of things that are integral to everyday life even in spite of that. The fact that you don't know that is because the myth of "men built everything" is more palatable to the men who wrote the history books and a whole lot of other men as well. And countering that false narrative is not somehow placing women above men - it's redressing thousands of years of oppression and erasure. It's like asking for white history month without realizing that every month is white history month. Every month is male history month.

I don't condone saying that men are trash but pretending that women have never actually done much to contribute to the world other than raise children is not only offensive, it's flat out wrong. We know that men built and did (do) lots of things that contribute to our world. It's not like we are going to forget that, but the people like Tate who say that are claiming superiority (all the while telegraphing how deeply insecure that they are) and trying to erase the truth of just how many important practical and scientific discoveries have been made by women - for thousands of years. And the fact that you can probably only name one or two women who did those things is the proof that it's entirely appropriate to talk about it and make those contributions more widely known.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
