So are you saying that a dominance hierarchy is natural and inevitable? Because I’ve both lived and worked in places that don’t operate that way. Both you and the people you encounter in the park are acting out the parameters of the society that you live in, which is a patriarchal dominance hierarchy. In a partnership-oriented society, people with drug addictions would be being treated and you wouldn’t have racial tension in the first place. I understand that you can’t take the fish out of the pond, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try to alter the properties of the pond itself.
Sorry, but animals don’t count in human sociology, except for sometimes when we are talking about our primate cousins.
