So, you actually know absolutely nothing about the history, sociology, or current research on this topic, but you've determined that your inexpert opinion makes more sense because it feels right? Super logical, for sure. 🙄

The fact that you believe "normal human" emotions and ways of relating to each other is feminine and not just human behavior is the real problem. And particularly since this is something that I've already pointed out to you takes place rather more often in plenty of other cultures, including plenty of other Western cultures, I don't get where your deeply emotional pushback is coming from.

Conservative Christians are in the very distinct minority in this country - at only about 38% and for younger demographics, it's quite a bit less than that. Any sort of cultural change takes time and concerted effort, but somehow we manage to do things like pass the Civil Rights Act and allow women equal rights under the law - despite the continued existence of open misogynists and the KKK. Pretending that cultural change just can't ever happen is blatantly ignoring history and rather recent history in particular.

I really hate to have to say this again, because it sounds abrasive, and my only intent is to smack you in the face with reality (and to try to understand)- but why do you (and some other men) want to cling to norms that are very literally killing men by the millions? It's not exactly rational (or very evolutionary). It’s like you’d rather die than admit that you bought into something (that you were heavily indoctrinated into) that turned out to be a problem.

In 96% of studies, cultural norms of masculinity seemed to increase suicide risk. Cultural norms of masculinity refer to expectations for how men should behave in specific communities or cultures. Our study identified the following norms as potentially elevating male suicide risk: suppression of emotions, pressure for men to succeed, and diminishing men's needs for relationships.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
