Sometimes when people try to commit suicide they don't want to die - it's often a cry for help. The same goes for these sorts of conversations. Sure, some people are already done, but some are just reaching out for help and acknowledgment. Automatically assuming that the relationship is over just because someone made this cry for help is not a good rule of thumb.
