Statistically, men do perpetrate over 90% of violence of all sorts - much of it against other men, and nearly all violence against women. Pretending it's really a 50/50 thing is a story to deflect from that.

Gamergate was overwhelmingly a male movement. The entire point of it was to drive women out of gaming and silence their voices. It was violently anti-feminist and just misogynistic on the whole. There were not a lot of female gamers who were participating in that.

And, the point of the OP was that to counter the narrative that feminists are mean by giving very specific examples of where feminists had actually been subjected to horrific abuse simply for saying they wanted to feel safe and be treated fairly. Anything that doesn't speak directly to those specific facts is extraneous and kind of highjacking the thread, which isn't cool.
