Such a great piece! I underlined and resonated with a lot. This whole idea that people who go out into the world and do "important things" have the support they want and need to do that because others are caring for their children - it's straight out of patriarchy - and applying it to white women doesn't make it any less so.

It's easier to write tropes than it is to grapple with actual social realities, so that's what most writers do, even if they are women. Still, I'm with you - I'd like to see better.
