Thanks again for weighing in. I’m not sure that I have all the answers but you recognizing the dynamic is a huge step in the right direction. Many, many men and many, many White people do not recognize that they have privilege. There’s a fairly constant backlash against this concept. I encounter it often.

I think that all any of us can do is to do our best to understand what’s going on and do what ever we can in the moment to try to shift it. Talking about what’s real, acknowledging that imbalances have existed and do exist, reaching out to others in good faith and trying to build bridges of human understanding — I think that’s perhaps all that we can do.

We live in a dominance hierarchy known as the patriarchy. Any move towards more egalitarian, more partnership oriented ways of relating to each other is a plus. Any time that people can not try to have power over others, but instead look for ways to work together and support each other, any time that we can be good to each other — that is a win for all!

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
