Thanks and I really wonder that too. I've asked one such guy to tell me more about what this means to him, how it fits in with some things he's said about men/masculinity, but to date, I haven't heard anything back. On a large scale, it's about patriarchy, and the beliefs that come from that which see life as a constant struggle for a place in the pecking order, which must be obtained by forcing someone into a lower position than you have. But how does that give anything to individual men? I honestly have no idea, except perhaps that if the "system" hasn't always been this way, it somehow feels destabilizing because you've kind of bought into a lie. Just a guess...
