My husband was in NYC with the CEO and the President of his company on business in the mid-90s. Both were attractive, well dressed women in their 40s. They'd been to a dinner so they were not wearing business suits, but rather something more like cocktail dresses. Apparently, the doorman stopped them and didn't want to let them into the hotel because he thought they were sex workers. They laughed it off, but then again, that wasn't happening to them on a routine basis like it is for Black women.
